Volunteer Meetup: August 25th

August 20th Update: Woah! What a turnout. We’ve had a flood of volunteer applications over the weekend and we are nowΒ full on volunteers!

Thank you to everyone that sent in an application. We’re now taking the form offline. πŸ™‚

Attention all WordCamp volunteers!Β We’re holding a volunteers-only prep meeting for WordCamp Toronto 2012. Our agenda isn’t finalized, but we’ll likely cover fun logistical items like scheduling, registration flow, volunteer teams/responsibilities, and so on.

The meeting will be held in the 4th floor lecture hall of George Brown’s Financial Services building. (This is the same location we’re using for WordCamp itself.)

If you’re a volunteer who can’t make this meetup, don’t worryΒ – we’ll be sending follow-up notes to all of the volunteers who have signed up on the above page.

A big thanks to George Brown College for letting us use their facilities for this meetup. Being on-site for the prep meeting is extremely useful, and we’re very grateful for the opportunity!

Session Suggestions & Volunteers Meetup

Suggestion BoxGood afternoon, WordCampers!

Speaker submissions have been coming in steadily, but we’re lacking diversity when it comes to presentation topics. Thus we ask…

Submit your session suggestions!

What do you want to learn at WCTO 2012?Β Submit your top three suggestions on our newly-createdΒ Session Requests page. We’ll collaborate with our speakers to work popular suggestions into their presentations.

Session Streams & Call for Speakers

Stream in High Park, Toronto

We’re pleased to announce the session streams for WordCamp Toronto 2012! Now all we need is speakers to fill in the gaps. We’ve gotten a good number of pre-announcement applicants already, but today marks the official call for speakers. (Joy!)

Take a look at the stream descriptions below. If you’re interested in speaking about any of the points we’ve mentioned (e.g. introduction to WordPress, customizing themes, or securing WordPress) — or if you have a presentation idea in mind that we haven’t hit on — please give us a shout.

Our New Logo

We’re very happy to unveil our new series of logos! This branding will be used for WordCamp Toronto, WordCamp Toronto: Developers, and our two WordPress meetup groups.

A big congratulations, and a heartfelt thank you, toΒ Valerie Crozier, the artist behind these awesome images:

WordCamp Toronto Logos

Valerie’s submission hit on the perfect combination of professional consistency + simple, “less is more” design.

Over the next week or so, our various sites will be brought up-to-date to match the new look n’ feel.

For everyone else that submitted an entry: Thanks aΒ tonΒ for participating in this contest. Your work will be used throughout the WordCamp Toronto & WordCamp Toronto: Developers conference in other ways.

WordCamp Toronto Logo Contest

Reminder: July 1st 2012 is our deadline for logo submissions!
If you’re interested in seeing your handiwork showcased as part of the branding for WordCamp Toronto, the Toronto WordPress Group, and the Toronto WordPress Developers Group, please get your entries to us on Sunday.

If you’re interested in submitting a logo, but won’t have something ready for July 1st, drop us a message. For merchandise and promo purposes, we need to settle on a logo by mid-to-late July at the latest.

Thanks!
– The Organizers

What do we need? One logo, modified for each of our groups.Β We’re looking to get similar logos mocked up for WordCamp Toronto, WordCamp Developers Toronto, the Toronto WordPress Group, and the Toronto WordPress Developers Group. We want some consistency across these different groups – a sense of unity – without being too β€œcorporate”.

We’re a community organization, run by volunteers, and sustained by passionate people from around the area. The logos should reflect that!
