He is the owner of\u00a0<a title=\"R-Cubed Design Forge\" href=\"http:\/\/r3df.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">R-Cubed Design Forge<\/a>, where he develops custom web applications, social networking and team collaboration solutions for businesses. Rick specializes in custom application development and multilingual WordPress sites. He is co-leader, and a frequent presenter at the\u00a0<a title=\"Ottawa WordPress Group\" href=\"http:\/\/wpottawa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ottawa WordPress Group<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Presentation:\u00a0You have a backup, don&#8217;t you?<\/h3>\n<p>Could you recover your WordPress website if it was lost due to a hardware failure, hacked, or corrupted during an update or plugin install? Having good backups can make the difference between a 10 minute recovery and complete site rebuild that may take a week. This presentation will cover the basics of backups, and several techniques of creating and restoring backups including: using cPanel, WordPress plugins, and services like VaultPress.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>What do you want people to learn from your presentation?<\/h3>\n<p>How to do the most important, but most neglected, task on your WordPress website: back it up!<\/p>\n<p>What attracted you to WordPress in the first place?<\/p>\n<p>Simple, it\u2019s really easy to use. My clients get web sites that they can manage and update mostly on their own, and as a developer I get a framework that is easy to modify or extend with add-ons and plugins.<\/p>\n<h3>What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?<\/h3>\n<p>Meeting and connecting with other WordPress enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<h3>Why did you decide to speak at WordCamp Toronto?<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve worked with WordPress for the past 4 years, and I want to see it continue to grow. Speaking at a WordCamp provides an opportunity to give back to the WordPress community in a way that supports it and helps it thrive.<\/p>\n<h3>What is your favourite theme or plugin, and why?<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;As a developer I use a lot of different plugins, but few that I use most of the time are <a title=\"Gravity Forms\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gravityforms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gravity Forms<\/a>, <a title=\"Google Analytics for WordPress\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/google-analytics-for-wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Analytics for WordPress<\/a>, and <a title=\"TinyMCE Advanced\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/tinymce-advanced\/\" target=\"_blank\">TinyMCE Advanced<\/a>.
