When not at his day job in the hosting industry, Al teaches WordPress at a Toronto, Ont college and also does corporate WordPress training. As a freelance web developer, he is always busy building sites on the WordPress platform. All this leaves him very little time to ride his Harley and watch NFL football.

In this double session, we’ll go over the different steps to take a PSD document from image to WordPress reality. We’ll build 3 different pages to give you an idea of some of the things to look for. While not a complete course,this session/workshop will you give a good starting point to continue building your knowledge and skills.
What do you want people to learn from your presentation?
That building custom themes doesn’t need to be intimidating.
What attracted you to WordPress in the first place?
I have always liked the versatility of WordPress. While the complexity has increased over the years with the additional functionality that has been added, it is still a relatively easy platform to get started with when compared to other options.
What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?
Seeing old friends and making new ones.
Why did you decide to speak?
I love speaking at WordCamps. With Toronto being my hometown WordCamp, it was a no brainer for me.
What is your favourite plugin or theme, and why?
I am still a big fan of Backup Buddy, has saved me all kinds of time over the years.
