Presentation: Be the Perfect Client: A Guide for Hiring a Developer
Moving all the way from finding a good developer to how to work with them effectively, we’ll cover the whole process. We’ll learn how a good developer can save you money, and what you should do to be the perfect client that makes the whole process as smooth as possible.
What do you want people to learn from your presentation?
That finding good developers is both easy and, in the long run, well worth your effort.
What attracted you to WordPress in the first place?
The ease of use coupled with its powerful features under the hood.
What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?
Meeting up with new people, and reacquainting myself with the awesome community surrounding WordPress in Toronto.
Why did you decide to speak?
Not only did I want to teach and share a few tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, I wanted to be an example to other young people my age who haven’t yet taken the plunge and dived right into the community.
What is your favourite plugin or theme, and why?
Underscores is far and away my favourite theme. It’s built by developers for developers to work off of, and it’s a great tool to learn from.
I think this will be a really useful presentation. I agree that having more young presenters will help encourage younger people to get their hands dirty in code, build things, make and learn from mistakes, etc. Any community needs to welcome young members and embrace what they can teach us.
