We haven&#8217;t said much since the site <a title=\"Welcome to WordCamp Toronto 2014!\" href=\"https:\/\/2014.toronto.wordcamp.org\/2014\/02\/12\/welcome-to-wordcamp-toronto\/\">went live in mid-February<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about to change. Starting today our\u00a0organizing team will be holding\u00a0bi-weekly meetings to\u00a0work through tasks and get things done.<\/p>\n<p>(A big thanks to our co-organizer <a href=\"http:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/tomauger\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Auger<\/a> and his team at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zeitguys.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Zeitguys<\/a>\u00a0for hosting these meetings!)<\/p>\n<p>Our major takeaways will be documented on this site. You can keep tabs on the updates by subscribing via email &#8212;\u00a0use the form in the sidebar &#8212; or <a href=\"https:\/\/2014.toronto.wordcamp.org\/feed\/\" target=\"_blank\">via RSS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we talked about during today&#8217;s meeting:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Roadmap &amp; Milestones: Aiming for October<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Our focus during\u00a0this week&#8217;s meeting was\u00a0to figure\u00a0out timelines.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t want to be\u00a0scrambling at the last minute to get things done,\u00a0so this year we&#8217;d like to have everything taken care of in advance,\u00a0hopefully by mid-October.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to think that October is far off in the distance, but it isn&#8217;t. As we&#8217;ve learned from previous years, that time disappears very quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Hence\u00a0the bi-weekly meetings. By getting together in person through the summer, we can gradually work through tasks under less pressure than waiting until the fall.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hashtag Change: #WCTO14 to #WCTO<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We&#8217;ve dropped the 14 from the hashtag.\u00a0Use those two extra characters wisely. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Call for Speakers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This is our highest priority right now. Speakers, and the topics they present, set the tone for the Camp\u00a0and how the\u00a0schedule is built.<\/p>\n<p>You can expect more\u00a0details, and the application, to be posted within the next two weeks.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sponsor Levels &amp; Call for Sponsors<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On the heels of our <em>Call for Speakers<\/em> will be our <em>Call for Sponsors<\/em>. We already have our price points worked out but we haven&#8217;t settled on\u00a0specific\u00a0deliverables yet.<\/p>\n<p>Expect the <em>Call for Sponsors<\/em> to be posted within the next three weeks.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Want To Volunteer?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>WordCamp Toronto 2014 won&#8217;t happen without a dedicated team of volunteers. <a title=\"Get Involved: Volunteer!\" href=\"https:\/\/2014.toronto.wordcamp.org\/get-involved\/\">Head to our Get Involved page and fill out the form.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been quiet on the WordCamp Toronto front for the last couple of months.
