I&#8217;ve been a designer for 25 years and now own and operate my own design studio Trailer Trash Design.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve have been using WordPress for 7 years. I provided creative services for my client from logo design to website development. I always recommend WordPress to my clients for their sites so that they can interact with their site and not just &#8220;have&#8221; a site.<\/p>\n<p>I love to interact with people and build new and lasting relationships with clients. I love WP and the community it creates. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge that comes from within the community.<\/p>\n<h2>Speaking session<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/2014.toronto.wordcamp.org\/session\/congratulations-youre-having-a-wordpress-site\/\" title=\"Session info\">Congratulations! You\u2019re having a WordPress site!<\/a> In the <a href=\"\/track\/useradmin\" title=\"Track listings\">User\/Admin<\/a> track<\/p>\n<h2>Your Presentation<\/h2>\n<p>My presentation parallels first starting to use WordPress with have a new baby. No one knows how to be a new parent. It&#8217;s learning process, just like getting started with WordPress. Things need to be shown and explained in both cases to keep the level of frustration low. I parallel many thing with having a newborn to WordPress in my presentation.<\/p>\n<h2>What do you want people to learn from your presentation?<\/h2>\n<p>I want people to come out of my presentation feeling more confident than they did walking in about using their WordPress site and not being afraid or frustrated with it. <\/p>\n<h2>Why did you decide to speak?<\/h2>\n<p>I love coming to Canada and I love WordPress. I&#8217;ve made a lot of great friends at previous WordCamp Torontos (is that even a word?) so it&#8217;s a great opportunity to see many of them again. <\/p>\n<h2>What attracted you to WordPress in the first place?<\/h2>\n<p>The ease of use. Being able to control my own website was a huge draw.<\/p>\n<h2>What is your favourite plugin or theme, and why?<\/h2>\n<p>I think right now my favorite theme is Divi from Elegant Themes. Not sure that I have a favorite plugin.<\/p>\n<h2>What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?<\/h2>\n<p>Meeting new people and learning some cool new things to do with WordPress.
