I also teach monthly LearnWP WordPress workshops in Toronto with Ruth Maude (we&#8217;re doing a joint session). <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m an experimental gardener &#8211; this year I grew over 100 sweet potato plants in a community plot. I won&#8217;t be going that big next year!<\/p>\n<h2>Workshop session<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/2014.toronto.wordcamp.org\/session\/website-assessment-clinic\/\" title=\"Session info\">Website Assessment clinic<\/a> in the <a href=\"\/track\/content-and-business\" title=\"Content and Business track listing\">Content and Business<\/a> track<\/p>\n<h2>What do you want people to learn from your presentation?<\/h2>\n<p>We want people to come away with practical tips make their websites better for users and better for search.<\/p>\n<h2>Why speak at #WCTO?<\/h2>\n<p>I enjoy sharing my WordPress and content experience. I also really like the whole concept of a sharing community &#8211; which is what WordPress has been for me. <\/p>\n<h2>What attracted you to WordPress in the first place?<\/h2>\n<p>I was attracted to WordPress because it&#8217;s user-friendly regardless of your comfort level with tech\/code stuff. For example, those of us with little or no coding expertise can still make a website do cool things. You just need to find a plugin. Now that makes me happy. <\/p>\n<h2>What is your favourite plugin or theme, and why?<\/h2>\n<p>Another tricky question &#8230;. because there are so many. But Black Studio TinyMCE Widget is one of my favourites. This plugin adds a new Visual Editor widget type that allows you to insert rich text and media objects in widgets with no hassle. <\/p>\n<h2>What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?<\/h2>\n<p>Hard to choose but my top three would be: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reconnecting with friends &amp; colleagues<\/li>\n<li>Talking about WordPress&#8230; <\/li>\n<li>Learning new things about WordPress &#8230; <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a copywriter, providing web content and content strategy to small businesses, non-profits and individuals.
