Why did you choose your topic?
I learned a lot of valuable lessons during the massive 1300 website migrations from HTML to WordPress that would definitely benefit other WordPress users.
What do you want people to learn from your session?
That there are continuous challenges and lessons learned from any website migration. You can overcome these challenges by asking lots of questions and diving deeper into problems.
Why did you decide to speak?
I usually speak with a team during panel discussions at WordCamp Ottawa, specifically the “Women in WordPress” and “Designers and developers: bridging the gap” panels last year. Now that I’m comfortable with that, I’d like to do a solo presentation.
What brought you to WordPress in the first place?
The Ottawa WordPress community.
What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?
Networking and learning more about Gutenberg.
What’s your advice for other WordCamp attendees?
Network and absorb as much as you can during the conference!
was this exercise recent?
I can’t think of many companies that still have HTML versions of their websites.
I do have 1 client with such a scenario but I would consider this a rare exception.
