Give back to the WordPress community by volunteering at WordCamp Toronto 2018!
Volunteers are crucial for making our WordCamp a success. From pre-event planning through post-event support, there are opportunities for all sorts of involvement.
Volunteer roles
Before & during the event
Event logistics: Help us make the day-of event run as smoothly as possible. This includes helping with things like supplies, signage, printing, refreshments, etc… access to a vehicle is super helpful here.
Travel & safety: Help attendees (including speakers & sponsors) find hotels and accommodations. Assist attendees with accessibility needs. Provide support in situations where code of conduct violations occur.
Speaker support: Help us wrangle WordCamp speakers. This includes helping with speaker applications, speaker selection, presentation reviews, and acting as a point-of-contact before and during the event.
Sponsor support: Help us wrangle WordCamp sponsors. This includes helping with sponsor outreach & applications, reviews & invoicing, helping sponsors during the event, and acting as a point-of-contact.
Website & media support: Help us raise awareness & manage comms via online channels. This includes maintaining the WordCamp Toronto website, publishing updates & announcements, and managing our social media profiles.
During the event
Registration & swag: You’re the friendly face greeting attendees when they first arrive, registering them for the event and handing out swag. We may also need your help prepping swag immediately before the event.
Room hosts: Room hosts help speakers set up for their presentation and assist attendees in the room. You’ll also keep the speakers running on time, timing their talks so they don’t go long.
A/V crew: Work behind the camera in each room, recording sessions for publishing to WordPress.tv. You’ll work with room hosts to get our speakers set up for recording.
Venue & afterparty: Help with event setup and teardown. Access to a vehicle is super helpful here as we may need to make supply runs during the day.
Floaters & runners: Floaters are vital to a successful WordCamp. As a Floater, you could be called in to help with anything and everything, from helping with registration to recording WordCamp sessions.
Attendee support: Create an amazing experience for all WordCamp attendees. You’re there to help people find their way around the venue; connect to wifi (always a hurdle); and whatever else attendees need help with.
