Alongside my clients, I uncover problems and solve them.<\/p>\n<p>When I\u2019m not building websites I enjoy teaching webdesign while volunteering at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadalearningcode.ca\/program\/ladies-learning-code\/\">Ladies Learning Code<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wcorg-organizer\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2>Kristine Black<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wcorg-organizer-description\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img alt='' src='https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/ee292200cfd89f4cb32fca28bafe9f594db5b7a5861cafa27b64889076fcc7b1?s=100&#038;r=g' srcset='https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/ee292200cfd89f4cb32fca28bafe9f594db5b7a5861cafa27b64889076fcc7b1?s=200&#038;r=g 2x' class='avatar avatar-100 photo' height='100' width='100' \/>\t\t\t\t\t<p>&#8220;After two years of helping organize the North York WordPress Meetup with NewPath Consulting, I finally took the plunge and built a site for my event planning business,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wednorth.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">WEDNorth.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During our cold winter nights, I sat under the artificial light of my greenhouse operation (surrounded by thousands of seedlings destined for my Ottawa Valley farm) and marveled at the fact that WordPress allowed me to create the basis of my own digital presence.<\/p>\n<p>I had dabbled in social media (<span class=\"atMention\" title=\"kandydkris\">@KandydKris<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; Candid more than sweet;-) and\u00a0<span class=\"atMention\" title=\"wednorth\">@WEDNorth<\/span>needed social media accounts too. After four months of solid online activity I was happy to transition to work on my farm and summer events.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly my site can use more attention and I should post more regularly on my 7(?!) social media accounts and blog\u2026 But that\u2019s what winter is for right? He&#8217;s a longtime WordPress advocate, working with the platform since 2007 as a freelancer, agency &amp; in-house developer, technical marketer, and course instructor.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s led local tech meetups since 2008, including <a href=\"https:\/\/wptoronto.com\">WPToronto<\/a> since 2011. It is currently 31% there. The questions are what does it take to be the Web&#8217;s Operating System and what level of usage [60% of all websites worldwide??] makes WordPress the Web Operating System.
