Featured Speaker: Joe Rozsa

“I’ve been a designer all of my professional career. I came up through the world of print and still prefer it over designing for the web. But since the internet doesn’t seem to be going away, I knew I had to adapt to design for it as well. I own my own graphic design studio called Trailer Trash Design where we specialize in branding start-ups, small and medium sized companies. Our ability to offer everything from logo design and brand development to web design and e-marketing strategies makes us the perfect one-stop studio.”

Presentation: Pages vs. Posts – The Mystery Is Solved!

“I decided to present this topic knowing that from conversations with new WordPress users, that there was a lot of confusion about pages and posts. There where lots of why and when and how questions. I think the most frustrating things to new users of WordPress is that they weren’t properly shown how things work. So I hope to fix that a little bit.”

Presentation: On The Move – Migration Made Simple

“I’m primarily a developer but lately I’ve been doing more and more of the server level configuration and site setup. I’m a big proponent of working in a development first and not cowboy coding. I have to migrate sites on a regular basis and I’d like to help demystify some of the issues about moving a WordPress site.”

Featured Speaker: Conrad Hall

I’m a retired carpenter, so if I can make WordPress work anybody can. I started using WordPress in 2008, and have since built dozens of sites for myself, friends and clients. I built a podcast to 5,000 downloads/week, and I’ve gotten a start on learning to code.

I like everything that happens outdoors – especially hiking and camping. My favorite color is blue, and I have penchant for raisin tea biscuits. I also just got a cat – he was rescued from an apartment upstairs. He’s a little kooky, so we’re a good fit, and he seems to think my toes are toys.”

Presentation: 4 Step User’s Guide from Local Installation to Live Server

Featured Speaker: Benjamin Moody

I’m a Toronto-based WordPress developer and PHP developer with experience developing custom WordPress websites and plugins for a wide range of clients.

My clients include Glaxo Smith Kline, Baskin Robbins, Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman), Shaw Communications, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Sony Centre, Zerofootprint, Clinical Trials Ontario, and the Toronto Star.

I’m a core technical reviewer for the textbook “WordPress Web Application Development” and I volunteer my time each year at WordCamp Toronto.

I have a number of plugins in the WordPress repo some of which are somewhat popular.

I feel that developing free plugins is probably one of the best ways a WordPress developer can give back to the community, while also improving those WordPress development skills.” Continue reading

Featured Speaker: Scott Grant

“Hello! I’m a software developer based out of Kingston, Ontario, with a lovely wife, two wonderful boys, and a cat who likes having showers. Presentation: Systematic Unit Testing

“I’m a huge fan of unit testing for a wide range of reasons. However, tests can be misleading. For example, what does it mean to have ten-thousand tests? Is that enough? Too many? What exactly are the tests covering? A systematic approach helps inform where new tests are needed and gives a way of thinking about when a test suite is complete.” Continue reading
