“I am the director of DevOps at Mercatus Technologies, a Toronto-based company that provide SaaS based eCommerce platform for grocery retailers. I also own WirelessLinx Inc., a consulting company in the GTA area that helps with website development (WordPress, Joomla, Liferay) and stack performance tuning/analysis. Previously I was the developer advocate for YellowAPI, development manager for Mercatus Technologies and have worked on almost all development roles.”
Presentation: Speeding up your WordPress Site
“I have worked in many companies where the websites receive millions of pageviews per day, and performance is always top of mind for everyone. It’s always fun to be able to find ways of optimizing a stack and know you have lowered the response time by 200ms or reduce the page size by 200k! Every little bit counts when you want the best for your users.”
What unique perspective are you bringing to this talk?
“Performance is a topic that isn’t WordPress specific. Having worked in many different CMS platforms in PHP, Java, Ruby and .NET give me perspective on better practices on deployment and performance tuning.”
What’s one really cool thing people will discover during your session?
“Speeding up your site can actually save you money in the long run!”
What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Toronto?
“I look forward to meeting all of the users and developers of WordPress locally. Every time I attend WordCamp, I learn something new and make new friends.”
