Featured Speaker: Laurie M. Rauch

Laurie M. Rauch wants to live in a world where code is pretty and well-written, proper grammar isn’t a lost art, and chocolate cures everything.

A WordPress-loving front-end web developer, Laurie runs Code Diva, which specializes in WordPress theme development, customizations, and coaching. She also teaches Advanced Web Design at Sheridan College.

When she’s not playing with code, you can find her trying to add a little pretty to her home, unashamedly watching more TV than anyone possibly should, and playing soccer with her dachshund, Oscar.

This isn’t stuffy corporate-style training!

Camp Tech was founded in August 2012. We facilitate approximately 200 public workshops a year in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Kitchener-Waterloo. Read more about Camp Tech, and how we got started, in this awesome Globe and Mail article.”

Why WordPress?

Presentation: HTTP/2 and You

“With all of the exciting new technologies in our industry, we tend to forget about the core protocols and APIs that gave rise to the web. As we get farther and farther away from these core concepts, we begin to forget to optimize for these basic protocols. I’m excited to give this talk because HTTP/2 is revitalizing interest in HTTP and I feel strongly that every developer should have a cursory awareness of these concepts.” Continue reading

But we’re not done just yet. Oh no. We’ve added another 25 tickets for folks to grab. There’s no telling how long these’ll last though, so register quickly if you want to attend! (We may not be able to squeeze more folks in after this.)
